How often should I take my rabbit to the vet?

We suggest that rabbits come in for a complete veterinary exam at least once a year. Once they reach five years of age, we recommend coming in more frequently (about twice a year), so we can get ahead of any underlying health issues that develop as they get older. Some of the most common problems senior rabbits face include:

  • Arthritis
  • Tumours
  • Uterine Cancer
  • Respiratory Tract Infections
  • Dental Disease

Do rabbits need to be groomed?

Yes. At-home brushing can prevent matting which may cause irritation and problems. Rabbits’ teeth also need to be trimmed regularly as they grow all their life. Overgrown teeth can be extremely painful for your pet rabbit.
