Do indoor dogs still need vaccines?

Yes. They can still be exposed to diseases and parasites found in enclosed spaces such as your home, the groomers, and doggy daycares.

What vaccines do dogs need?

Vaccines fall into two categories: core and non-core. Core vaccines are mandatory for all dogs. Some are even mandated by law (e.g. rabies vaccine). Non-core vaccines are optional and recommended based on lifestyle. The Lyme disease vaccine is an example of a non-core vaccine.

When should puppies receive their first vaccines?

Canines can be vaccinated as early as 2-months-old. They will need booster shots once every month until they are roughly 4-months-old. This completes their “puppy” vaccines. Then, once they are adults, they will need to be vaccinated once a year or once every three years to maintain their immunity.
